The celebration of Black History month is something we at With You believe is critically important and incredibly inspiring. This well known quote from Martin Luther King captures how we feel at this time of year:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
When we relaunched With You last year I committed to making inclusion and connection between all people a big part of our mission. The notion that our destiny is in fact linked is an incredibly powerful one and it requires that we treat each other not only with respect, but with love. At With You we will always celebrate the magnificence of human differences in an effort to bring us all together. We will always be committed to the idea that love (not hate) is the most powerful and transformative of all human emotions.
In keeping with our commitment to supporting women and girls, this month we will be featuring profiles of African American women who made a difference in the march for justice and progress in our social media. These women are all role models who fought for progress and maintained a commitment to love in the face of unimaginable hate. We hope that you are as inspired by them as we are.
