What Makes Jewelry “Real”

If you’ve looked around the internet recently you’ve probably noticed that there’s a lot of jewelry out there. There are endless choices at a wide range of prices but it can be hard to know the quality of what you’re looking at. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. Check to see if the piece is made with noble (real) metals or base metals. Just about all jewelry will have a metal content mark on the inside if it’s made of a precious metal. There will usually be at least one other mark as well, a hallmark or a stamp, put there by the maker of the jewelry.

  2. If the piece is made with gems, make sure you know what they are. Diamonds? Cubic Zirconia? For example, With You uses natural diamonds and AAA CZ.

  3. Find out if the piece is handmade or machine made. Generally speaking handmade pieces are higher quality and more distinctive.
